In 1998 we opened our Beltsville location.  Since then we have grown into one of the largest and most successful consignment furniture stores in the area.  We serve the Maryland/DC/Virginia metro region.We offer an excellent alternative way to buy and sell furniture, art, decorative accessories, and collectibles.  We have recently opened our "New Mattress Gallery" as a factory authorized Therapedic/Eclipse dealer. We have also added a large selection of office furniture to our "newly expanded" 10,000 sq. ft. showroom.


How Does It Work?

For Consignors

 User friendly, no hassle selling. We do the work!

Whether you have one item to sell or an entire estate, we are the perfect alternative to an estate sale, yard sale, or an ad in the paper.  The first step is to determine the salability of your items. We only take what we feel we can do a good job selling.  We have a simple pre-screening process for quality control purposes.  We will first discuss your individual situation and needs with you including: what you have to sell, your time frame, whether or not you have a way to bring items to our store.  We may ask you to bring photos or samples of your items i.e., a cushion from a sofa, a drawer from a bedroom set, etc.  The idea is to get an accurate description of the quality and condition of your items.  We may send a representative to your home for a pre-screening.  The idea is to see what's coming in ahead of time.  This avoids any misunderstandings and there is no obligation or cost to you.



Our consignment  is based on a 60 day contract with a grace period of 30 days to reclaim or abandon your items.  Most items sell within 30 days in our store.  Our terms are: 50/50 split of items selling for $1200 or less 60/40 (in your favor) for all items over $1200.


 

Common Questions

How do I get my furniture to you?

The choices are:  Arrange your own delivery to us.  We will help off load.

We can arrange a pick up for you with one of our bonded sub contracted pick up/delivery services.  Fees are reasonable and determined based on your location and the number of items involved.  We will quote a range to you in advance so there will be no surprises.  Best of all THERE IS NO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE.  We will deduct the fee from your proceeds on your first check.  VERY PAINLESS!  Just sign a receipt and wait for your money!

How and when do I get paid?

All items are entered into our computer data base.  We mail checks (or you may pick up at store) on the 10th of each month.  The check covers all items sold during the previous calendar month and includes a statement that details all transactions on your account.

What happens to items that do not sell during the consignment period?

By pre-screening the items we accept, the reality is that most items do sell within 60 days.  You have the option to pick up your unsold items within the 60-90 day window.  Our feeling is after 90 days, we have given your item every opportunity to sell.

What is your markdown policy?

The goal is to sell your items for as much as possible, at the same time to offer a competitive deal to the buying public.  We generally hold original tagged prices for the first 30 days, and mark down in 10% increments there after.  We will quote you a range of what we feel is fair market value for your items.  Keep in mind, WE ARE PARTNERS in the sale of your items.  It is to both of our advantages to sell your items for as much as possible.  We want to split the highest number!

Other than furniture, what else will you take?

We take:  artwork, decorative items, and collectibles.  Our showroom is always very eclectic.  We do not take: appliances, electronics, clothing, or used mattresses.  We are always interested in unique items and will be happy to discuss any item with you.  If we feel we have a market, we  will be glad to try.

For Buyers:

We provide an extensive inventory of furniture, artwork, decorative accessories, and collectibles at affordable prices in our 10,000 sq. ft. showroom.  We sell a combination of factory new and used items.  Our inventory changes daily so we suggest you come often.  BROWSERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME! Delivery of items can be arranged at reasonable rates by our staff, or we will be glad to help load your items for you.  Our inventory has a wide range of price points.  You may see a sofa for $100 or $1500.  We have sold artwork for as little as $5 or as much as $3500.  We stock our store with the best available inventory always at competitive prices.

Consignment Furniture Gallery opened it's Beltsville location in March of 1998.  We have a wide area of service from Baltimore to Virginia.  We have been in the consignment business for over 12 years.  The key is experience and a good reputation.  We have both!
